TUBMAN COMMUNITY GUIDE

Yarangel is a Public Health practitioner and community advocate committed to advancing equity and community-centered healthcare initiatives. She believes healthcare is a fundamental human right. Through her role as a Tubman Community Guide, Yarangel aims to be a bridge between community members and resources, empower individuals with knowledge so they can make the best decisions for themselves regarding their health, and contribute meaningful work toward health justice. Having earned her B.S. in Public Health - Global Health with honors from the University of Washington, Yarangel is passionate about centering the experiences of Black, Brown, LGBTQIA+, and otherwise marginalized communities in all health initiatives.

  • When not at work: You can find me out in nature, somewhere by the water, anywhere music is involved, and spending quality time with friends/family.
  • I identify as: A Black woman (she/her), a first-generation South Sudanese – American, a creative, an INFJ, and a multi-hyphenate.
  • I dedicate my work at the Tubman Center for Health & Freedom to…: Anyone who has felt othered or overlooked. You matter, your health matters, and you belong. I also dedicate my work to my amazing Mother. She is grace, gentleness, and goodness personified.
