The Tubman Center for Health & Freedom offers a transformative healthcare model by and for community.
Tubman Health addresses health and wellness from both systemic and clinical approaches. By practicing medicine from the intersection of health and freedom, we address both the health of our patients and the factors that determine their health.

Medicine for the People

Campaign for Health & Freedom
We’re on the path to groundbreaking.
The plans are taking shape. The land is owned by community. Our community is waiting.
We are more than halfway there! We’ve raised $26.7M. Let’s get to the finish line!
With your support, we’ll reach our next milestone: groundbreaking for our third & largest clinic in October 2026—a clinic that will serve 12,000 community members with primary care services rooted in healing, liberation, and community.
Clinical Care
Community has reimagined healthcare. Now, we’re building that model. We are currently delivering and refining our model of care at the Freedom Clinic at Rainier Valley Leadership Academy and the Healing House.
In 2027, we open the Center, a 40,000 square foot state-of-the-art space for healing and community connection with the capacity to serve over 8,000 primary care patients.
We offer culturally-appropriate integrative care, offering the best of Western and traditional forms of medicine.
Advocacy
We work to eliminate systems of oppression that perpetuate illness by engaging in grassroots campaigns and policy efforts that promote liberation and public health for communities suffering from disparate health outcomes.
Health Promotion Programs & Trusted Information
Through culturally-relevant health promotion and health communications, we work to advance the health of Black, Brown, LGBTQIA+, disabled and low-income community members throughout the Puget Sound region.
Community-Driven Research
The Community Health Research Institute (CHRI) at the Tubman Center for Health & Freedom is led by scientists, public health professionals, human-centered design experts, innovators, thinkers, and community members who come with lived experiences to root their academic practice.
We're committed to community-driven research, uplifting community's priorities, insights, and solutions for our health and freedom. CHRI analyzes the systems that govern healthcare and the factors that make our communities unwell.
